FAQ's
|
| How
do I know how much my album will cost? (i.e.: how many
pages will it be) Do I have to do it all at one time? |
| During
our initial consultation, we will determine the amount
of pages needed to achieve the results you are looking
for. I will be then able to give you a good estimate of
what you can expect to pay. It's possible to order an
"ongoing" project that progresses over a time
period, whereby I will create pages a few at a time, for
example. One project that might be an example: a child's
grade school album. |
|
| How
do I submit my pictures and other items I want included? |
| The
answer may depend on a number of factors, such as your
location. I can meet in person with you and accept your
materials. Alternately, they can be shipped to me. (I
strongly suggest you keep copies of all photos, since
they will likely be altered/cropped for the finished product).
Another option is to simply e-mail your photos to me and
I will take care of printing them. I use a high quality
Epson printer, or a photo lab such as Wolf Camera. If
necessary, all consultation can be done by e-mail or phone.
The most important task for you will be to organize and
label your materials into related groups, to make it easier
for me to tell your story. |
|
| How
long will my project take to complete? |
| The
time frame will vary, depending on the scope of your project
and my current schedule. I will give you an expected date
of completion at the time of our initial meeting, and
a firmer date at the receipt of your deposit. For reference,
a 12" x12" 20 page deluxe album will require
4-6 weeks. |
|
| What
is a "Journaling Block" and do I have to use
it? |
| Journaling
is the written account of what is happening in your photos.
It might contain simple facts such as the "what",
"when", "where" "who", of
your event, or the feelings about the subject. Associated
phrases, quotes, or funny captions can be used. This can
be handled (or eliminated) in several ways. I can simply
provide a place for you to fill in your journaling, or
I can type it in a font that complements the theme. You
may want to journal on only a few pages or maybe none
at all. This will be one of your decisions, but I will
tell you that in my experience, journaling is valuable
to telling the story. |
|
| What
are embellishments? |
| While
your photos should be the focal point of any well-designed
project, embellishments serve to enhance them. They are
the "accessories" and serve to support the theme.
In the expanding world of scrapbooking, there is a dizzying
array of embellishments available. Examples include eyelets,
ribbon, buttons, die cut paper, fibers, overlays, rub-off
stickers and design elements, and the list goes on and
on. Every scrapbooker loves them. You will definitely
appreciate having them on your project. |
|
| What
if I have scrapbook supplies already? |
| I
don't mind using your supplies. I will charge labor-costs
only plus any ala-carte items I need to purchase, if any.
Actual pricing will be determined on an individual basis.
Remember that your supplies should compliment the theme
of the project for best results. |
|
| What
is "acid-free" "lignin-free" and why
is it important? |
| Less-expensively-made
paper (i.e.: newsprint) has a high lignin content, causing
more rapid fading, yellowing, and deterioration. A low
pH is bad for preservation of inks. When a product is
pH-neutral, it will be stable for a much longer time,
thus archivally-safe. I use only papers, inks, and products
that are advertised as "acid-free". Thus when
you provide me with objects to be included in the scrapbook
which cannot be determined to be acid-free, I usually
prefer to use a scanned copy on the project if possible. |
|
| What
if I am not satisfied with something in my finished project? |
| During
our consultations, I will do my best to understand your
ideas. After I have begun production, I will let you see
pages in production (by e-mail) for your approval. Any
necessary adjustments can be made. If, after delivery,
there is a problem, I will accept one-time return for
changes. Shipping/insurance costs will apply, and be your
responsibility. |
